Read the article on food deserts. Using the Food Desert Atlas found at the USDA Economic Research Service, look up Oakton, Virginia and discuss the availability of food sources where you live(Oakton, Virginia).

• Are there adequate healthy food sources within walking distance?
• Is there something you could do in your community to increase access to healthy food sources?
• How do these food deserts relate to the food web?
