Advancing the Knowledge Base
In the chosen study the researcher used a quantitative study to advance the
affirming diversity climate in organizations theoretical discussion (Fields, 2015).
Researchers have been making suggestions to conduct further research to determine
whether there is a correlation between two particular concepts. That is whether
perceptions of diversity climate have an effect on value congruence/person–organization
(P/O) fit of any type (Fields, 2015). Conceptualized and measured in regard to subjective
fit, value congruence is the match between individuals’ values and perceptions of the
organizations’ values (Edwards & Cable, 2009). Once there

individuals and organizations positive outcomes result. Predominantly defined, P-O fit is
the compatibility amid persons and organizations and determines how well persons fit
within organizational context (Vallabh & Singhal, 2014).
P-O fit affects the individuals’ behavioral response regarding organizational
aspects and research showed that organizations that individuals perceive to have similar
values they favor working in such organizations (Vallabh & Singhal, 2014). What has
also been a concern of researchers is how organizations’ diversity practices impact
employees’ value congruence/P-O fit. In the study, the researcher addressed the research
void regarding the correlation amid value congruence/P-O fit and perceptions of diversity
climate, while exploring whether minority and nonminority employees’ perceptions of
