Online research is a major skill for nursing student’s coursework. Success relies on the ability of the student to find high-quality and reliable resources to inform thoughts and scholarly writing. As a student searches the research literature, it is imperative to utilize peer-reviewed resources from a scholarly journal. Technology has enabled students to access a nearly limitless amount of information easily and quickly via a library database. Nevertheless, before using the information found on the internet or library database, it is important to first ensure that it is suitable to include in your academic research paper (Carlock et al, 2017). The Walden library holds its collections in databases. The databases are compilations of magazines, reports, newspapers, journals, and books. The library has more than one hundred different databases, entailing subject-specific databases containing journals that cover research in a specific subject area like management, psychology, and medical journals and multidisciplinary databases, containing periodicals and journals in a range of subject areas.Evidence to Inform Thoughts Nursing Essay

The article “Mental Health Stigma and Its Effects on Treatment-Related Outcomes: A Narrative Review “is an article reviewed article that pertains to psychiatric mental health nursing. The article is published in the Military Medicine which is a peer-reviewed medical journal. The article investigates if mental health stigma directly affects treatment-related outcomes such as improvement in symptoms and treatment attrition. I searched the article from the Cochrane database of systematic review. Since my area of specialty is psychiatric mental health nursing, this article is a useful resource that will inform my thoughts and scholarly writing.

There were not any difficulties that I experienced when searching for the article. My initial step was going to the subject resources box and clicked on a subject and chose nursing. I then explored the list of recommendations on the subject research page. Using the Cochrane database of systematic reviews database search page, I entered and manipulated different keywords until I got the combination of terms that provided the best articles relating to psychiatric mental health nursing. The Walden Library database allowed me to select the types of sources I would like to include in my search results, so selected peer-reviewed articles.

The Cochrane database of systematic review database would be useful for my colleagues because it contains huge collections of published scientific studies, entailing peer-reviewed scholarly journals. Scholarly journals are regarded as accurate, dependable and reputable sources of knowledge, ideas, and information. The majority of scholarly journals are peer-reviewed, meaning that every published article has been assessed by numerous experts on the particular subject matter of the article. Yagelski (2017) claims that the review process usually establishes that the content is appropriate for publication because it is unbiased, accurate and meets research standards in a subject area.Evidence to Inform Thoughts Nursing Essay

I would recommend this database via the Walden University Library because it can provide nursing students with useful articles to use when conducting their research. The database has an expansive wide range of peer-reviewed, credible articles and resources. The database is an excellent place for my colleagues to consider beginning their nursing-related research. As Potter et al (2016) indicate, the Cochrane database of systematic reviews includes the full text of updated systematic reviews along with protocols for reviews presently underway. The reviews are prepared and maintained by collaborative review groups. The protocols offer the objectives, methods, and background for reviews that are in progress.
