Write an essay in which you explain the need for various psychodynamic approaches. You will also compare and contrast the three psychodynamic approaches discussed throughout the topic. Your essay must include the following:
A discussion of why it is important to understand and utilize a variety of psychodynamic approaches.
An overview of each of the following approaches: psychoanalysis, analytical, and individual.
Compare and contrast the key differences and similarities between views of human nature and therapeutic techniques for each approach.
Explain how each theory supports or conflicts with your personal view of human nature.
You must include a minimum of three academic references beyond the textbook to support your essay.

ychodynamic Overview•Psychodynamic theories focuses on human functioning and their interactions of drives and forces. •Two approaches include psychoanalysis and individual psychology.•Key theorist, Sigmund Freud, developed psychoanalysis. •Key theorist, Alfred Adler, developed individual psychology. •Both approaches use different techniques to help clients with their unconscious motives. •One approach focuses on the unconscious motives of one’s behavior and the another focuses on human development within their earlier years of life.
Approach of Theory- Psychoanalysis •Psychoanalysis explains that causes of behavior includes irrational forces, unconscious motives, and genetic factors within the first six years of life. “Our behavior and feelings as adults (including psychological problems) are rooted in our childhood experiences” (McLeod, 2017). •One’s unconscious motives affect behavior and feelings. “The unconscious mind comprises mental processes that are inaccessible to consciousness but that influence judgments, feelings, or behavior” (McLeod, 2017). •Behavior can lead to slips of the tongue. “Unconscious thoughts and feelings can transfer to the conscious mind in the form of parapraxes, popularly known as Freudian slips or slips of the tongue” (McLeod, 2017). •Technique of Theory•A technique used for psychoanalysis is free association. Free association is by definition the mental process by which one word or image may spontaneously suggest another without any apparent connection. •This technique allows clients to express whatever they would like to the therapist. “…the patient immediately responds with the first word that comes to mind” (McLeod, 2017).
