Facility Research and Selection
HCS 529 WEEK 1 Facility Research and Selection
Facility Research and Selection Resources: Saving and Submitting Your Design in SmartDraw®
Facility Research and Selection Part 1:
Imagine that you were tasked to build or redesign a health care facility in your local community.
Research health care facilities in your area that may need renovation, or to find out what type of facility may be missing. Your research will help you select your project focus.
Choose one of the following facilities, which you would like to build or redesign. You will use this facility in future assignments throughout the course.
- Assisted Living
- Birthing Center
- Doctor’s Office
- Hematology Lab
- Hospital Security Layout
- Outpatient Clinic
- Custom Facility Plan
*Note: If a Custom Facility Plan is selected, students are responsible for emailing the faculty member for approval for selected facility prior to submitting the assignment.
Access SmartDraw® and select facility template. This will be used in the Week 4 facility planning assignment.
Save your design after you have selected the facility.
Facility Research and Selection Part 2:
Write a 750- to 1,050-word paper in which you describe your selected facility. Include the following elements in your paper:
- Summary of your research.
- Description of types of facilities and services offered in your local community.
- Description of the facility you have selected.
- Explanation of the need for the building or renovation.

HCS 529 WEEK 6 Incorporating Feedback for Final Presentation and Design
During this week, you will review and possibly incorporate the feedback from the team member who reviewed your final project. You will use your team member’s feedback as well as your faculty’s feedback from Week Four to make corrections or adjustments to your final project. This week you will complete a feedback and summary form that will detail any corrections or adjustments you made based on the feedback from your faculty and team member. You will also turn in your final presentation and design again to be reviewed with your feedback and summary form. Remember that it is ultimately your decision to incorporate feedback from your learning team member and your faculty; however, if you decide not to incorporate feedback, you need to explain why you did not.
Incorporate the necessary changes recommended by your learning team member and your faculty into your presentation and SmartDraw® Design.
Complete the Feedback and Summary Form.
Click the Assignment Files tab to submit your Feedback and Summary Form, final Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation, and final SmartDraw® Design.
