Palliative care is supposed to start during the diagnosis time, if possible, and should be provided simultaneously with the curative treatments. The aim of palliative care is to improve the quality of life, for the patients as well as their families and friends and at the same time achieve the relevant treatment goals (Schroeder & Lorenz, 2018). On the other hand, hospice care refers to the supportive care provided to individuals during their last phase of terminal disease and focuses on comfort and improving the quality of life, and not on treatment. hospice care does not include concurrent curate treatment (Lai et al., 2018).

I believe that hospice care is very important for patients during their last phase of life. This is because hospice care ensures that patients are comfortable and free of pain, and thus they are able to live their last days as fully as possible and finally peacefully. Euthanasia is the direct and deliberate causation of death by a healthcare professional (Goligher et al., 2017). My view is that euthanasia is sometimes justifiable in order to end the suffering of a patient who will die sooner or later. Life should not be prolonged at all costs, especially if being alive is outweighed by the burden of unbearable suffering.

I do not have an advanced directive, living will or power of attorney. This is because I see myself as a young person who should not focus on issues on mortality. In addition, I believe that treatment that is not effective can be stopped even without a living will or advanced directives.
