Think about your health as a person with a disability. What are your health care concerns and needs? What has been your experience with the health care system and its providers? What do you want nurses and others to understand about living with a disability? How might health care professionals devalue and disempower you? How can nurses and other health care providers care for you in a way that conveys respect and concern for you as a person?

Imagine you live in a family affected by disability. How does disability affect you and others in the family? In what types of activities does your family engage that are associated with disability? What kinds of family or personal activities are difficult for you to carry out because of the disability? How do people respond to you or to your family member with a disability?
