As a nurse, I have experienced different organizational changes. Perhaps the most memorable change at my facility was the introduction of a new information management system that shifted facility functions away from a paper-based system towards a computer-based system. The change was embraced by the personnel and was largely successful with only a few operational hitches. Retrospectively looking at the case, I believe that it turned successful because an appropriate change model had been applied. To be more precise, the change model offered five advantages. Firstly, it introduced a forecasting function that presented a structured and prepared the stakeholders for the change while normalizing their experiences so that they understood the change process and felt supported. Secondly, it measured the change results through setting baseline objectives, creating schedules and negotiating budgets against which the actual experience was measured and interventions created. The baseline data was particularly useful for measuring time, professional efficacy and rate of change adoption. Thirdly, it introduced the concept of accountability through creating an intention for change that allowed the stakeholders to consider their role in the process and held them accountable for the transition (Hisrich& Kearney, 2014). Fourthly, it reduced resistance through identifying the potential resistance areas, determining the risk of occurrence, and implementing strategies designed to eliminate or reduce the resistance. Finally, it clarified the roles of the stakeholders through identifying when each person would be required during the course of the change process (Mitra, 2017). As a result, there was a correlation between the success of the change and the presence of a change model. Organization Change Sample Essay
