Post-master NP certificate – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Statement of Purpose
Nursing is often misjudged to be a tiresome career filled with subservience and long shifts. This is mainly due to the stereotypes that surround the profession. A deeper look will show that nursing is filled with many exciting sectors that will help one grow and challenge them. I chose to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner as it allows me to exercise my passion for self and challenge myself to care for people in need.
During the Covid 19 pandemic, some of our classes were moved to digital learning. This presented new experiences that included internet and communication problems. The expertise acquired from communication problems will prepare me for any communications issues in graduate online work. Use various methods to achieve a successful course such as participating and engaging in class. Organize and use time wisely and involve. I met with a counselor for better personal and professional advice. Set, seek, and accomplish goals. Take effective notes and Develop self-awareness, self-management, and self-discipline.
Mental health has always been a topic of interest to me. I have always viewed the area as outside the traditional scope of nursing. Those with mental disorders also appeal to my passion for caring for those in need. These are the experiences that have contributed to my interest in psychiatry. During my work as a nurse in the emergency room at Hialeah Hospital, I had the opportunity to have patients with a Psychiatric Diagnosis, I was very happy to be able to help them and give them the attention they deserve, but even more so to see them improve.
The basic requirements of becoming a psychiatric nurse can be challenging. The academic requirements for nursing are high as you're expected not to have a GPA below 3.0. This will demand a lot of studying, and I plan to accommodate this by allocating sufficient time for all my classes and some free time to continue my studies during the week. My studying methods have been working so far, as I have yet to attain a GPA below 3.0. This is how I will accommodate the academic requirements. During my degree I spent a lot of time studying. After I got home from work, I sat down to spend a minimum of 4 hours a day reading and practicing getting good grades and, above all, nurture myself with knowledge, always thanking my family for helping me so much to achieve my goals.
A requirement for a license is clinical experience. This includes two years' experience as a full-time nurse, two thousand hours of experience in psychiatric nursing, and thirty hours of continuing education in psychiatric nursing within the last three years. Accommodating all these requirements will require me to allocate as much time as possible to get work experience. This includes ensuring I don't lose hours during my shifts at the hospital. This is how I will accommodate the clinical requirements. My goal is to work as soon as possible in a psychiatric center where I could perform my clinical rotation hours and take the opportunity to be free in learning. I would love to work in the best centers such as the University of Miami, Jackson Hospital since I consider They are one of the best places.
I aim to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner in a mental health ward in five years. My tasks would include providing health care to those who have mental health problems and administering their medication. I am interested in becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner as I love taking care of those in need, and it fulfills my passion for self.
