It is important for patients to be able to identify their medications to avoid medication errors. Knowing their medication can promote medication compliance. Teaching plan will be given in both English and Spanish if necessary. Upon completion of teaching plan, patients will obtain the information needed for medication safety. Patients should feel comfortable reporting any side effects. Medication knowledge can help patients maintain medication compliance during stay at Mesilla Valley Psychiatric Center and at home. Goal of the Teaching Session: The goal of this teaching session is for patients to understand importance of knowing their medication to avoid medication errors. Learner Activities: Patients may ask questions to better understand information. Upon completion of teaching plan patients will be expected to verbalize information provided. If teaching plan is unsuccessful, information will be given again.
